Chronicling 40: Day 21 of 365

butterflies

A few days ago I noticed that a once healthy, albeit leggy, plant was dwindling.  The stalks looked strong… but the flowers were gone, then the leaves, and then all we had were green twigs.  Today, as I pulled down the driveway I noticed something different.  The stalks were oddly shaped, and I thought perhaps they were diseased.

Caterpillars!  Painted ladies have turned this lovely plant into a nursery.  Upon further inspection later in the afternoon, I found a chrysalis.  I love nature.  I love God’s creation.  How something so beautiful on it’s own, will form this safe shell only to reveal something even more beautiful… and yet completely different.

Did you know that when a caterpillar makes the chrysalis… it essentially completely dissolves on the inside before forming into the butterfly.  We really have no idea how exactly this all works, but it does, and it is beautiful.

I don’t always understand what God is doing in the areas that I can’t see, how He is shaping or molding things from one to another.  I just trust that whatever it is that happens, on the other side, it is going to be beautiful.
